As a caregiver, staying informed is key to providing the best care. It helps you make confident decisions and navigate the health care journey with ease.

We've compiled trusted resources where you can access free health information. On this page, you'll find resources on medical conditions, treatment options, caregiving strategies and more.


UHN Patient and Family Learning Centres (PFLC) offer reliable and up-to-date health information. Free resources are available in different formats, such as books, videos, audiobooks, e-books, apps, podcasts and health brochures, all in multiple languages. Accessible in person or online.

At the PFLC you can also find:

  • A dedicated collection of print and electronic resources for caregivers.
  • Online and printed information about health conditions, diagnostic tests, treatment options, managing side effects, recovery and healthy living.
  • Free health education programs, social and emotional support and wellness groups at UHN or in your community.
  • Information to help you navigate the health care system.
  • A monthly e-newsletter with the latest health and wellness news, tips, and events at UHN and in the community.

The Patient Education and Engagement team provides materials and resources needed to make informed health decisions.

Patient Education offers brochures, videos and webpages created at UHN or by other reliable organizations on a range of topics like caregiving, mental health, financial assistance, medical tests and treatments and more.

Information about various health conditions are categorized by body parts or systems so it's easy to find what you need.

Some resources are available in other languages.

With Digital Health for All, you can learn how to:

  • use the myUHN Patient Portal
  • attend virtual appointments
  • find health information online
  • protect your email and accounts, and more.

An online search engine for Princess Margaret patients and caregivers to find information on different cancer types, medical tests and treatments and common topics such as food and nutrition, side effect management and more.

You can filter by cancer type, language and resource type. Resources include e-learning modules, websites, videos, brochures and books.

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM) offers various classes to patients and caregivers in their program. Topics include cancer education, food and nutrition, wellness and survivorship.

Classes are live instructor-led or online self-directed. The patient education calendar lists all classes for the upcoming month.

The Heart Hub is the patient and caregiver education site of Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research.

Find information about heart function, heart failure, and how to manage the care and health of a person who has experienced heart failure.

The Heart Hub offers videos, guides, practical tips, stories from other caregivers and community support focused on heart health and heart failure.

Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) helps people understand and exercise their legal rights.
