patient explaing breathing issues to healthcare professional

The Lung Site Group at Princess Margaret is the largest comprehensive program in Canada treating lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. Our site group offers novel, cutting-edge programs in diagnosis, assessment, and treatment planning and delivery for all stages of lung cancer, and for both common cancer types and rarer histological subtypes. We provide follow-up care, patient education and survivorship support. We see more than 800 new patients with thoracic cancer and have approximately 9000 patient visits every year.

Our clinical programs span the spectrum from the initial diagnosis of cancer, through the Lung Rapid Assessment and Management Program (LungRAMP), to a strong clinical trials program that includes leading edge trials for all stages and types of patients, and programs geared towards symptom palliation, including the Palliative Radiation Oncology Program (PROP). We collaborate closely with the Department of Supportive Care.

With an internationally recognized inter-professional team of medical, radiation and surgical oncologists and specialized pathologists and diagnostic radiologists working in collaboration with nurses, psychologists, social workers, dietitians and other allied health professionals, our centre offers patient-centred care that treats the whole person, not just the cancer.

Through our dedication to research and education, we are continually pushing the boundaries of clinical care and improving the quality of life for people with cancer, throughout their cancer experience.

Princess Margaret is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

Princess Margaret Cancer Centre clinical practice guidelines are developed by multidisciplinary teams and are reflective of current evidence-based practice. These clinical practice guidelines provide information to referring institutions, regional and global partners, and assist in decision-making processes of individuals comprising multidisciplinary care teams.
