The Lung Site Group team includes world leaders in diagnosis, treatment planning and care delivery for people with lung cancer. Our team includes oncologists (medical, radiation and surgical), pathologists, diagnostic radiologists, nurses, psychiatrists, social workers and other allied health professionals.
Our group is dedicated to advancing best practices in treatment options and care delivery through our leadership in innovation. Our excellence in clinical, basic and translational trials and research helps set new standards for the best care and treatment.
Members of our team have made several major breakthroughs, including:
- Establishing the benefit of CT screening in individuals at high risk of lung cancer
- Improving the survival of patients with completely resected early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer by administering adjuvant chemotherapy
- Demonstrating the palliative benefit of targeted oral agents for patients who have previously received chemotherapy
- Establishing best practices in both curative and palliative thoracic radiotherapy
Because Princess Margaret is a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto, most of our staff have a university appointment. Staff often participate in research and continuing education initiatives that advance the frontiers of lung cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
