What We Do
Persons who have sustained a severe acquired brain injury (ABI) may experience social isolation and place significant burden on family members due to impairments and behaviours that prevent survivors from meeting their goals or living independently.
The ABI Day Program provides social and educational activities, and community outings. Program activities support participants’ goals, enhance their strengths, and enable them to learn new skills. Groups address issues that challenge ABI clients and their families. Activities and sessions focus on recreational activities, social support, and skills training.
The ABI Adult Day Program operates 5 days per week from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each client attends 1-2 days per week for about six months. Participants bring their lunch.
We also provide community case management to clients and families. For caregiver support, the program links caregivers to community services, education on managing behaviours, and availability of one respite bed for client overnight stays to give caregivers time to recharge.
