Eligibility

Supervisors

RMP summer positions are supervised by at least one full time faculty member within our program. Often the student will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team. The scope of the summer position is usually in alignment with one of our research projects in physics, radiation therapy, clinical research, education and laboratory-based research.

Duration

The duration will be determined between the student and supervisor. Summer student opportunities typically range from 8 to 12 weeks.

Expectations

Supervisors typically have a pre-established plan for each summer student position. In addition to working closely with the supervisor(s) to determine the student's scope of activities, students are encouraged to take advantage of all learning opportunities within RMP and Princess Margaret. Students are encouraged to participate in the Medical Biophysics (MBP) Summer Student Seminar Series, the Cancer 360+ Summer Student Program and the UHN Summer Training and Research (STAR) Program.

In addition to these MBP, Cancer 360+ and STAR opportunities, students are strongly encouraged to prepare an abstract based on the work they have completed over the summer and participate in the RMP Summer Student Research Day. Finally, students are expected to complete the end of summer Research Report and Program Evaluation prior to their last day.

Stipend

Rates of pay will align with the UHN research summer student pay guidelines. These rates may be adjusted based on available funding at the discretion of the supervisor.
