UHN Machine Shop

The machine shop is fully equipped to: design and build medical devices; modify existing equipment; design and build items for any industry. Although the shop is very familiar with hospital equipment such as MRI, CT and ultrasound, many other technologies are also serviced such as hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication and general machining

 

Our Services

• Manufacturing by: computer controlled machining (CNC), conventional machining, 3D printing, sheet metal and welding
• Design by: Solidworks (CAD) and Mastercam (CAM)
  • Virtually any design software can be accommodated

• Computer numerical controlled (CNC) milling and lathe
• Conventional machine shop tools
• 3D fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers from Statasys and Ultimaker
• Tungsten inert gas (TIG), metal inert gas (MIG) and ARC welding
• Sheet metal tools
• Solidworks CAD software

 

 

Using Our Facility

• Open to academic and external users
• Shop staff can work to specifications supplied to us, or the shop can create an engineered solution for you
• Quotes can be provided
• UHN projects will be charged to an approved functional cost centre (FCC)
• All other projects will be invoiced
