Referrals

If your patient needs immediate, urgent care, please call 911 or direct your patient to proceed to the nearest Emergency Room.

For urgent referrals, you must make direct contact with the appropriate physician.

Please note: All suspected cases of testicular torsion, priapism, sepsis secondary to urinary obstruction, trauma, testicular masses and renal mass with inferior vena cava (IVC) involvement are considered urgent referrals.

To complete the standard referral process, fax a letter of referral and related documents to the appropriate fax number below:

Toronto General Hospital:  416 946 6590

Toronto Western Hospital:

  • A letter of referral
  • CT/MRI/bone scan reports
  • Relevant clinic notes
  • Relevant lab test results

Your office is responsible for providing the patient with the appointment information, including time and location, and important documents, test results and imaging that they must bring. It is extremely important to ensure that your patient brings the following as these will be required at their first appointment.

  • All relevant CT/MRI/bone scans on CD
  • All relevant correspondence

Please note that clinic appointments may be virtual visits. The clinic team will let you know what type of appointment is appropriate for your care. Learn more about virtual visits at UHN »

What We Do

We are dedicated to the comprehensive treatment of bladder disease and to personalized cancer care for our patients and their families.

Cystoscopy involves placing a camera into the lower urinary tract to evaluate the bladder (and, in men, the prostate). This procedure helps identify stones, tumours or other abnormalities in the bladder.

We also provide these treatments and tests:

  • Biopsy of the bladder
  • Biopsy of the penis
  • Immunotherapy and chemotherapy to treat bladder cancer
  • Insertion of ureteral stents to help relieve obstruction of the ureter(s)
  • At Toronto Western Hospital, we also provide urodynamic testing to assess the causes of a patient's incontinence or voiding dysfunction.

Tests/Services

  • Bladder biopsy
  • Cystoscopy
  • Intravesical immunotherapy and chemotherapy
  • Penile biopsy
  • Post-void residual determination
  • Ureteral stenting
  • Ureteroscopy
  • Uroflowmetry
