The
Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Program at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, led by
Dr. Piroze M. Davierwala, is one of the first in Canada to offer patients the full spectrum of minimally invasive cardiac surgical (MICS) procedures, including but not limited to valvular, coronary artery bypass and aortic surgeries. MICS is associated with less surgical trauma, reduced risk of infections, shorter ICU and hospital stays and considerably faster recovery than procedures performed through a conventional sternotomy.
