What We Do

Toronto Western Hospital's Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic was established in 2000 to deliver safe, state-of-the-art tuberculosis care for Toronto's multicultural communities. The clinic addresses many significant barriers to treatment including language and cultural barriers, social stigma, poverty and homelessness and medications to treat TB. The program includes an ambulatory care clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of active tuberculosis disease and tuberculosis infection.

The clinic's multidisciplinary team includes infectious disease specialists, respirologists, a nurse practitioner, a nurse clinician, public health nurse liaisons, a social worker, respiratory therapists and research staff. The clinic handles approximately 1,400 visits per year, providing expert care in a safe environment for TB treatment.

The TB clinic also provides outreach and educational programs to improve the knowledge and awareness of TB in the community and among health care workers. The clinic also has resources and information related to TB in many different languages.

Please note that the TB clinic does not treat Non-Tuberculous Mycobacterium (NTM) infections.
