Toronto Rehab hosted a Ministry of Research and Innovation event that announced Ontario is investing $15 million in spinal cord injury research through the Rick Hansen Foundation and the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation.
Dr. Michael Fehlings, Medical Director, Krembil Neuroscience Centre and Dr. Milos Popovic, Senior Scientist, Toronto Rehab, both spoke at the announcement providing examples of spinal cord injury research that has benefitted from this funding.
There are 86,000 people in Canada that live with spinal cord injuries and 4,300 new cases each year.
