Lakeside Long-Term Care Centre opened in 2004 to provide exceptional 24-hour care for individuals in a residential setting.

As people age, illness, frailty or disability may make it impossible for them to live independently. Sometimes 24-hour nursing and personal care are required. Long-term care may be the best option.

We help people maintain their mental and physical well-being so that they have the best possible quality of life.

Our nursing and personal care staff provides support for residents in all activities of daily living, as they need it. Our goal is to help individuals live as independently and as safely as possible. With that in mind, our care also includes physiotherapy and other therapeutic programs. Recreational programs provide individuals with opportunities to stay active and socialize.

We provide outstanding care through a health care team that includes nurses, health care aides, activity and therapy staff, a social worker and dietary specialists.

Lakeside Long-Term Care Centre is operated by Extendicare (Canada) Inc., under a contract with UHN.

What Makes Us Special

Lakeside Long-Term Care Centre combines the advantages of a modern facility with a design that emphasizes warmth, comfort and intimacy. We provide a safe and homelike, 24-hour care centre for 128 residents. In our centre, we offer:

• 80 private rooms with private bathrooms
• 48 standard rooms (2 people share a bathroom), designed for maximum privacy
• Tastefully decorated rooms that can accommodate pictures, bedspreads and small pieces of furniture from home. Each room has a secure, lit memory box where residents can display and share their most cherished items with friends, staff and visitors.
• 4 distinct home areas that provide a homelike atmosphere. Each home area contains resident rooms, a dining room, a lounge and an activity space for 32 residents.
• A wandering resident safety system that ensures the safety of all residents. Call bells in all rooms provide immediate assistance.
• A landscaped courtyard and outdoor terraces, provide secure outdoor spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy our gardens and the fresh air
• Delicious, nutritious meals are served in our dining rooms. Our dining rooms overlook the landscaped courtyard and a nearby children's playground. A country kitchen provides space for informal dining and home baking. Private family events can be hosted in our celebration dining room.
• An interfaith spiritual room, providing residents of various religious traditions with a place to reflect, pray or meditate, either on their own or with others
• An on-site beauty salon and barbershop
• Public gardens and a park beside our centre, offer additional space to stroll, visit and sit
• Easy access by car from the Gardiner Expressway or by TTC on the King Street streetcar
• Convenient on-site paid parking
• The home is fully air-conditioned
