The Toronto Lung Transplant Program is a world-class academic and training centre, collaborating in medical research with other national and international programs.

Our research focuses on lung regenerative medicine, primary graft dysfunction and understanding the mechanism of lung acute & chronic rejection and prevention of infection post-transplantation. We also perform both basic (pre-clinical) laboratory research as well as translational and clinical research for the treatment of end-stage lung disease with a focused interest in lung transplantation. With an average of 200 lung transplants performed each year, our centre is a leader in the field of transplantation in Canada, North America and the world. Since we began, we have performed over 3,500 lung transplant operations to date.
