What We Do

Our health care providers all specialize in mesothelioma and provide comprehensive interprofessional care to patients. We provide assessment and evaluation for suspected or confirmed mesothelioma patients in a unique interprofessional approach that includes surgical, medical, radiation oncology, social work, and pathology teams. We triage all referrals to identify the most appropriate specialist(s) for you to see. You will get an opportunity to meet with several specialists in a unique one-stop-shop model of care and we will develop your specialized care plan. We will also connect you with additional resources as needed. We accept patient referrals from across Canada.

Support Resources at UHN

  • ELLICSR
The ELLICSR, Health, Wellness and Cancer Survivorship Centre, is a good place to go to find information, meet other survivors, take a class, participate in survivorship research and much more. You can borrow books and DVDs from the resource centre, watch a cooking demonstration in the kitchen or get moving in the gym. Patients, family, friends and caregivers are all welcome.
  • Cancer Rehab and Survivorship Program
The Cancer Rehab and Survivorship (CRS) program provides many services to support you during and after your cancer treatment. You will access the CRS program as an outpatient. This means you will not stay in the hospital to access the program. A referral from your medical team is required.
  • Palliative Care
The Palliative Care team helps patients and families improve their quality of life when facing problems related to a life-limiting illness. Our goal is to prevent and ease suffering, due to pain or any other symptoms. This can be helpful at any point during an illness, and not only at the end of a person's life.
  • Psychosocial Oncology
At the Psychosocial Oncology Clinic, our specialized team of social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists provides counselling and therapies to help you and your family cope with the diagnosis of cancer, reduce stress and improve your emotional well-being. We offer many services to help you and your family while you are a patient at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. We also provide support after your treatment.
