The Institute for Education Research supports excellence in health care education through appointments for all stages of a research career. We are bringing a laser focus to researching health care education by providing a hub for research education experts to come together, incubate ideas, and leverage expertise to create a network in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Our membership model welcomes a diverse sample of research-interested professionals and it allows for traditional education science to coexist with scholarship and quality improvement. With a community of researchers, clinicians, educators and trainees, TIER promotes high-quality research competence, brokers new collaborations amongst its members, and supports clinicians to become research collaborators.

The Clinician Investigator category recognizes individuals with a staff appointment at UHN who spend a lesser, but still considerable, amount of time leading research activities. The UHN Research appointment as a Clinician Scientist or Clinician Investigator will be made in a manner consistent with the corresponding University academic appointment. The creation of Clinician Scientist and Clinician Investigator appointments will ensure that UHN comprehensively captures and reports on the world-leading advances that are made at the institution, and further build research excellence at UHN.
