Vendors provide UHN with external expertise in new technologies, opportunities to upgrade to new products and pharmaceuticals, and educate our staff in the use of their products. UHN's policy for vendors requiring access to patient care areas aims to improve organization and protect patient privacy. There are three types of vendors that may visit UHN:
Level 1 Vendor - applies to vendors who require direct Patient interaction in all patient care areas at UHN.
Level 2 Vendor - applies to vendors evaluating products, UHN staff training in use of products and other support. No patient interaction in all patient care areas at UHN.
Level 3 Vendor - applies to Construction, Trades, Research Partners etc. No patient interaction, working in empty rooms in all patient care areas at UHN. For short periods of time (i.e. not greater than 5 business days).
All workers entering UHN building will be required to show proof of vaccination by October 2021 using the validation system provided by the Province of Ontario. These employers are responsible for ensuring their staff that come to UHN are vaccinated and/or appropriately tested between now and Oct 2021 when they will be required to show proof at our screening entrances.
Depending on the role, there are different requirements for vendor privilege approval. Applications for vendor privileges must to be submitted to
vendors@uhn.ca 30 days before the start date of the agreement.
