Smoking and second‐hand smoke are the leading cause of preventable death. There is no safe level of exposure to second‐hand smoke, even when that exposure occurs outdoors.
The University Health Network (UHN) is committed to providing a healthy, safe and comfortable environment for all our staff, patients and visitors. As a result, UHN is becoming a smoke-free hospital.
It is the law.
If you smoke on UHN grounds, you could be fined up to $5,000 and UHN could be fined $300,000.

Smoking is prohibited across all areas of UHN, in compliance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act and the Electronic Cigarettes Act. This includes:
UHN reserves the right to ask anyone smoking on UHN grounds to move off the property.
Individuals and institutions that do not comply with the Act will be subject to fines.
